A self-taught artist, my passion for painting and sculpture began as a young child living in the Shropshire countryside on my parents small holding. I loved being surrounded by nature and animals and would create highly detailed female forms and quirky animal sculptures. I work from my imagination preferring to avoid realism at all costs! In the past I have also sculpted with mixed media, polymer clay, sugar, chocolate, and porcelain.
My work has been exhibited in many UK galleries, Bowes Museum County Durham, Guildford House Gallery, Gloucester and Birmingham Galleries to name just a few. I was commissioned by the BBC to surprising chef, Ainsley Harriott, with a sugar caricature sculpture of him sculpted from sugar on the TV show Ready, Steady, Cook. A big thrill was being commissioned to create small sculptures to feature on the front cover of Vogue Italia magazine, clay figures of celebrities Matt and Emma Willis and a huge, sculpted chocolate wedding centrepiece for actor/singer Gareth Gates.
I now sculptwith stoneware in my Worcestershire home studio. A hand builder I use coiling and slabbing techniques. After firing the pieces, I colour with oxides using the 'wipe back' technique and glaze. Sometimes I use a crackle glaze or cold finish.
I have loved art from the age of four and being able to create every day in my studio really is my dream come true and also a wonderful therapy.
Recently my garden sculptures have been exhibited at the Broadway art festival, Showborough House garden sculpture exhibition, and the Cotswolds sculpture park.
